Trends of 2016

Now I haven’t done any of these, and maybe y’all know more. If so comment below some trends y’all saw in 2016.

  1. Hover boards- Okay I know this was so last Christmas, but hover boards really got popular in 2016. No explanation needed. 🙂
  2. Musical.ly- Not everyone likes it, but there are so many people who do. Not too familiar with this one, but this is  what I got out of the description. Your phone plays music and you lip sinc to it. Apparently you have to have a special knack for it, it doesn’t seem that hard to me, but I don’t know…
  3. Pokémon GO-Okay I know about this one again not because I had it though. I know about it because of the news! There were so many people getting hurt or even killed be cause of this silly app. I still don’t get it…
  4. DIY Slime- This one is more recent. Lately everyone has been talking about DIY Slime. And what I just found out is there are different kind of slime! There is slimy slime, fluffy slime, and crunchy slime. Who new?
  5. Dabs-I learned of these at church because two girls are always dabbing. And then at Beach Trip they made us all dab for a picture. 😀
  6. Unicorns-Everything has unicorns on it! Every store I go into has something with a unicorn on it. Even Jamie Grace now has a unicorn Jamie Grace Show onesie. Speaking of onesies…
  7. Onesies- I feel like onesies really spiked in popularity this year. I kinda want one…but not at that price! Jamie Grace’s onesie is $60! I’ll stick with PJ’s. 😀
  8. Bottle Flipping-Ah yes, bottle flipping. Everyone has tried it at least once. I love watching people bottle flip, but doing it myself…not so good. Watch this Dude Prefect video of bottle flipping! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8V_bx0L4RY You might spot some dabbing in the video as well.

Which of these “trends” have y’all heard of?

Christmas musings

Every year we wait and wait for Christmas to come. And then it comes, and in a split second it’s gone. This Christmas something just felt different for me. Even though I love Christmas time, the giving of gifts, the receiving of gifts, and most importantly the remembrance of our Saviors birth, something just wasn’t right.

I took all my presents up stairs after we opened them. And I stood there looking at them. There were many. Some big, some small. But most important I had gifts. I felt happy, and loved. Right in that moment I began thinking of all of the families that don’t get to experience Christmas the way that we do. There are families that don’t even get food every day. And here I am with all of these presents! I felt so greedy and selfish looking at the presents on my bed. I felt like I didn’t give enough this Christmas. Not the physical gifts. But the more personal gifts. The gifts of love, joy, peace, the gift of Christmas.

I know Christmas is over, but I am still listening to Christmas music, so here are two songs that go with what I was trying to say:

Music Monday!

How could I not post this song?! If y’all have followed me for a while y’all might know that I love Jamie Grace. She is so encouraging, sweet, funny, I could go on and on. When her new song Party like a Princess came out, I fell in love with it. It has such a catchy tune and is an upbeat song, which means it might dance to it occasionally… 😉 I hope y’all enjoy it as much as I do! ❤ Mandie

You Are…(Post Series Continued)

Here is encouragement for everyone.

You made a mistake. Truth is you hate messing up. Jesus said we need to be like Him and he was perfect. So why am I not perfect? Read the sentence above again. Jesus said to be like Him, not to BE Him. No one will ever be able to be perfect. Why are you so hard on yourself? You make promises, and don’t keep them. You say things you don’t mean. All of these things tear you apart. But why do you let them do that? You are more. You are more than all of the mistakes you have made. You are more than all of the choices you have made. You have been remade. You are more.

I do not own anything! All credit and rights go to the band Tenth Avenue North and producers. 🙂

Thank you so much katiescottagebooks for nominating me for this challenge! I don’t read a lot of books, although I do enjoy reading. My favorite books are autobiographies (books written about a person, by that person) so y’all will be seeing quotes mainly from autobiographies. 🙂 Let’s get started!

Day 1 Quote: “Sometimes we don’t discover our purpose until the darkest moments strip us of everything and all we are left with is brokenness and heartache. It is in these moments, ironically, when hope becomes our strength and carries us.”   -Danny Gokey, Hope In Front of Me, Find Purpose in Your Darkest Moments

Recognition Blogger Award!

saa

Thank you Sarah at Forever Aspiring Writer for nominating me for this award! Sorry it took me so long. 😦

The Rules:

~ Write a post to show your award.

~ Give a brief story of how your blog started.

~ Give two pieces of advise for new bloggers.

~ Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog.

~ Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to.

How my blog started: Well there is not a very big story behind the start of my blog. My friend got her blog, and then my sister, and then I joined them because I thought it would be fun! And I am so glad that I did start blogging!

Advice for new bloggers: First of all, be yourself. Don’t try to copy what other people blog about, unless that is what you are passionate about.

Write about things that you love. I am not a poet and I know it! So why would I write poems (attempt I should say) and post them on my blog? I love music and encouraging others, so that is what I post the most.

Communicate with other bloggers. Blogging is a community. I think it is so important to talk to and communicate with the bloggers who follow you and who you follow! It shows that you are interested in them and fully support them.

My biggest tip is this one: don’t get upset if you don’t post regularly. I used to get really upset with myself because I didn’t post a lot. It can be really hard sometimes if you don’t have anything to post about. But don’t get upset, just move on. Try to sit down sometime and just brainstorm ideas for posts, so that when you haven’t posted in a while you will have some ideas to post about.

Here are the bloggers I nominate:
