I have heard this song so many times but never really listened completely to the words. A while back I stopped myself from singing along and just listened. Here are the lyrics:

Wow! That’s all I can say after reading these lyrics. But here is what really hit me.

I truly believe that God speaks through music, and many times again and again has he spoken to me through music. 2017 has truly been one of the best years yet. Yes I had struggles, my valleys, but I also learned so much! One thing that I have faced a lot this past year was trusting. I struggled so much with trusting people, and more importantly God. Funny thing is I heard this song SO MANY times while struggling with this, but I never took the time to really hear what God was telling me, and apply it to my life!

The first line was a punch in the gut! So many times have I reverted back to my old ways! How silly! The next line…YES, YES! I don’t want to be in control, because every time I’m in control it ends in disaster! I want your way Yahweh, and only your way!

When we ride in the backseat God turns our dusty roads into highways and our view into the most beautiful destination. We see things, and know things that we never would have seen or known without Him! I don’t want to be a back seat driver, I want God to navigate the way, and take EVERYTHING over. I don’t want to doubt you Lord, I want to Trust!

And then we have the bridge of the song….oh, boy! This part really got to me. I sang these words so many times. BUT I NEVER FOLLOWED THROUGH! I’m putting my trust in You, its a little bit overdue, but I’m putting my trust in you!

And this is my prayer for myself: Lord, fix my eyes on you and help me not to look back. Help me to stay on YOUR path and not mine. Lord, please tame this beating heart inside my chest. Help me to stay when you say to stay, and move when you say to move. Help me to trust You Lord, with everything I have in me, and not to fear when things seem scary. Light up my path Lord, and help me not to second guess Your plan. My ultimate prayer is to fully trust you Lord. Please help me to FULLY TRUST you in every situation. I can only accomplish this with You! AMEN!
